Mr. Tan Huynh

Eighth Grade - Math and Reading Groups

Mr. Huynh is the youngest of 8 from a family of Vietnamese immigrants.  His mom successfully raised 6 of the 8 kids as a single mom on welfare and food stamps.  Every kid earned a 4-year college degree.  She repeatedly taught everyone that either you, "play now, pay later." or "pay now, play later."

Heeding his mom's advice to "pay" the price of working hard and finding solutions to barriers in education, Mr. Huynh graduated from UCSD where he got his degree in Management Science, his minor in Studio Art, and his Master of Education in Curriculum Design.  Mr. Huynh gets to work each day doing what he is most passionate about--motivating, teaching, and mentoring young students of all ages.

Mr. Huynh now gets to "play" by enjoying swing dancing, playing pool, reading, coding, drawing, and hiking and traveling the world with his wife, Kristin (and sometimes with his dog, Nina).  "Putting in the right kind of hard work early in life is super important.  It's just like investing, you have to start young," says Mr. Huynh.
