Ms. Lindsay Ortega

Eighth Grade Teacher - Math and Science

Ms. Ortega is originally from New Mexico but moved to California to go to college and fell in love with it! She lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years where she attended St. Mary’s College of California. She attended on a tennis scholarship and double majored in Mathematics and Psychology. She worked in the actuarial science field and the biotechnology field before moving to San Diego 5 years ago. In 2021, she graduated from UCSD, earning a Master’s Degree in Education (MEd) and a teaching credential in Secondary Mathematics. She absolutely loves teaching math and having the opportunity to provide a safe and welcoming classroom environment for students to explore their problem solving and critical thinking skills. She loves getting to interact with middle school students because they are at such a critical time in their lives where they are figuring out who they are, and are really starting to pursue their individual interests.

She is the 8th grade math and science teacher this year and is thrilled to get to work with the students and their families at ICS!

And if you see her riding her bicycle around National City, feel free to wave her down and say hi!
