About me:

Hey! Hey! Hey!  Welcome to Ms. Hart's Second Grade Class!  I am Ms. Teresa Hart and I am lucky enough to teach Second Grade in Room 2A this school year.  I have been teaching for many years and have experience in grades K-3.  I have taught in Los Angeles, Oakland (was a founding teacher of a school in North Oakland), and now in National City.   I was an award recipient in Oakland for bridging the gap for minority students and also was 1 of 9 teachers in the entire Bay Area to be invited and included in a Lead Teacher Cohort for preparation as an administrator.  I have been privileged to teach all of the students who have entered my classrooms.
When I'm not teaching; I enjoy doing many things.  I love to run (who says that, right?).  I have accomplished many goals through running and am proud to say that I have completed many half marathons, a full marathon in hilly San Francisco, and I am currently training for a 24 hour mountain race with a team of 6 women.  Along with running, I like to stay fit by doing Reformer Pilates, biking, and hiking.  I like to cook and love to bake.  If I'm not outdoors, you can find me in the kitchen.  Other interests of mine include restaurant going and live music listening.

December

Happy December!

Time is flying by this school year.  I can't believe it's almost 2015.  This month we have a couple exciting things happening:

Dec. 12:  Electronic Party

Dec. 16:  Winter Concert

Here are some learning updates:

-We are finishing up our measurement unit.  Students can measure using non-standard units of measure (i.e. paper clips, shoes), cm rulers, and meter rulers.  Ask them about when they'd use each type of measurement.

-We are starting a unit in Social Studies about communities.  We will be learning about the differences between rural, urban, and suburban communities.

-We have completed several writing projects.  We have written opinions, informative, and narrative pieces.  Ask them about their whole class Minecraft story.

I am looking forward to the learning that will happen in 2015.  Over the break, all students will bring home leveled books and their math workbooks.  Please have them read and practice their math.

Happy Holidays!  See you in 2015!
